The Holywell Poor Law Union Record (G/B/134/259) dated 19/7/1844 notesthat Robert (29) Jane his wife (28), Robert (3) & Jane (1) ofGwaenysgor were paying rent of £3.0.0 PA. Robert was a Labourer whohad strained his foot. His son Robert aged 3 had burnt to death (verylikely as a result of his clothes catching fire). Robert was recordedas having left his family. Jane was awarded 8/6d for funeral expensesand the record shows that "Action" was to be atken against the father- presumably for deserting his family. NB The reference to thedaughter Jane aged 1 would appear to be incorrect as Jane's daughterMargaret would have been aged 1at the time of this entry.

Prior to the 5th of May 1871 Mary Holland (who was by then a widow)was receiving 2/6d weekly from the Holywell Poor Law Union in respectof her lack of support and debility. On the 5th of May 1771 the PoorLaw Union reviewed her payment in light of the fact that her sonWilliam who was working as a clerk in London was paying her annualrent of £2.12.0d. In the light of this income from her son the Uniondecided to cease her a weekly payment from the 8th of May. She diedin the Workhouse at Holywell on 5/2/1888 (Holywell workhouse recordG/B/69/1 refers).
