In 1647, her sister Elizabeth followed suit by marrying Colonel John Carter, a man from the opposite camp, who was at the time military governor of Conwy Castle. The estate descended to the two brides, Mary and Elizabeth and consisted of lands in Denbighshire, Flintshire and Caernarvonshire. A tomb to Mary was erected at St Georges Church after her death.
